Magazine Development

Here is the development process for my magazine, I will put all of my ideas here and reflect on the decision that make

Genre: Travel Magazine

Name of magazine:

- Voyages
- Travel bug
- Wanderlust
- Journey
- New world
- Island hopper
- Jet set
- Odyssey
- Touring
- Globe Trotting

I decided on the title Island hopper. The literal meaning is that someone goes from island to island. I chose this as it relates to how Indonesia is a country housing multiple islands and how specifically, Bali is a well known island.

Possible Cover lines:

- Indonesia's best beaches
- Colorful Natural Waters
- Best popular Island in Indonesia
- Bali's best beaches
- Shot location of Ticket to Paradise
- Clear Waters

I chose this as my main coverline because I think it's one of Bali's unique selling points. I think it's also catchy enough to be memorable and factual enough to me.

Images

- Beaches (long shots)
- Ocean (overhead shot)
- Palm trees (Mise en scene blocking)
- Sunbed (Mise en scene blocking)
- Small boats
- Model

I want my main cover image to be an overhead shot of a beach. with only an 8th of the cover (at the bottom) being sand and the rest being the ocean. I did this so that there may be enough space for some text in the sandy areas and less text on the ocean areas. I think this may be very difficult for me, because I think it'll be hard to find a nice shot of a beach with no one on it, on the right time of day.

Double page spread

My main idea is to show how nice and wonderful Bali's beaches would look. I think the main focus will be on the images instead of the information shown, so there will be less text and mostly big images of Bali's beaches. Although subheadings and headings can be larger and more prominent so that the viewer can clearly see what section their in or have a short explanation on the history behind the image. Even though more information is used for older audiences, I think that they wouldn't mind having more images so they can read less
