Shooting Practice : Music Video
This post contains a mini project that helped us learn how to shoot a music video. We shot our verse as a group and then created this post together.
Lesson Description: My teacher gave each group a verse from THE BEATLE - Here Comes the Sun. We had to plan a scene which included various camera work and edits. The goal was to improve our lip syncing skills, which it later on will be use for our MV project.
PRE PRODUCTION
Before we started our production, our teacher gave the class a popular song to download and perform to so that everyone in class were familiar with the song and are able to perform well in a short amount of time. Our teacher recommended that we actually sing the song instead of lip syncing so that the visuals match up nicely with the song. Our teacher then gave each group our verse and recommended that we did a quick little storyboard for the music video. Afterwards, we were given a short amount of time to record our scene anywhere in the building.
PRODUCTION
We started by recording the scene based of our storyboard in the canteen but disliked the outcome, so we quickly came up with a different and slightly more creative shot to keep it less boring. This scene was for the first half of our verse. We did this scene by using a speaker so that both actors were able to hear the song from far away and are able to act. while the second scene for the other half of the verse was quickly thought up, which ended up making the second scene a lot more simple, and not as creative as the first one.
POST PRODUCTION
We almost didn't have enough time to record our scenes but thankfully it worked out. After recording our scenes, we quickly went to our classroom and uploaded all our videos to google drive to make it easily downloadable to work on the post production, and editing of the videos so that our lip syncs properly matched up with the song we were pretending to perform to. This was done by using a video editing software to combine both the clips and the songs until it properly matched up.
- Camera did not focus for a couple of our shots which then we had to retake more shots than we expected.
- Bad whether which blows the whole meaning of this music
SOLUTION:NEXT TIME:
- Bring proper camera next time
- Choose a better time to record our scenes, or wait out the rain
