Location and Risk Assessment

Location 1

Location:

Where is it?

Bedroom

Events in scene:

What will happen? (eg action, interview, B roll)

The scene where the murdering of Ata by Haresha occurs, in the POV of CCTVs footage.

Pros of location:

Why is this a good location?

Because the place fits with the genre convention of where killing happens at a place where no one is passing by, a tightly closed space. In Particular, we want to subvert the stereotype of a bedroom to be a peaceful and comfortable place into a place where crime scenes occur, sending messages to the audience to remain on guard at anytime, even in your most comfortable safe-room.

Cons of location:

What are some issues with the location?

Very limited space and distractions, as we tend to get tired coming from school directly to recording so we tend to rest first.

Alternatives:

What other locations can you shoot at if there are issues here?

Living room - because this place has a similar stereotype as the bedroom, yet may not be as strongly stereotyped as the bedroom itself.

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

What dangers are there?

Sharp objects (table, drawer, and bed edges) that may hit someone’s leg as well as slippery floor. Haresha’s room is also a little bit cramped to move around, so we have to be extra careful.

Evaluate risks:

What bad things could happen with these ‘dangers’? Someone might trip due to the slippery floor and fall, leading to injuries. Getting hit by one of the hard-wooden furniture edges can be fatal too.

Control measures:

How will you prevent these from happening?

Be mindful of where we move around the room and don't move recklessly. Recording the CCTV scene is the most extreme part for the camera man, so we decided to send one person to hold the cameraman so that they can stand still on top of a chair.

Responsibility:

Who will be in charge of the control measures?

Haresha

Time frame:

When will you have the control measures in place by?

Before and after the recording we will make spaces by moving obstacles away so it minimises the chance of us hitting it. Or just don’t try to move at all, because it will add unnecessary background noise and you may end up as a blooper in the scene.

Other notes:

Anything else?

Location 2

Location:

Where is it?

Classroom

Events in scene:

What will happen? (eg action, interview, B roll)

Interviews of Louis, Bagas, and Nicho. Louis takes role of Ata and Haresha’s both best friend, Bagas as the best friend of Ata, as well as Nicho as childhood friend of Haresha.

Pros of location:

Why is this a good location?

Because the classroom looks formal with the monotone of the colour white, less colour signifies narrower range of emotion. Especially white connotes purity and honesty, signifying that the interview is purely from the interviewee’s experiences that are not made up and are genuinely stated. The pale lighting also implies lack of brightness, meaning it connotes gloominess  or when someone is in a state of mourning. Each of the interviewees are at their own mourning; Bagas mourning the death of Ata, Nicho reminiscing his pure memories with Haresha, and Louis honestly stating that he aligns with Ata to be his best friend as he is more generous and humble than Haresha.

Cons of location:

What are some issues with the location?

Posters that are hung on the walls which makes the atmosphere less serious as well as the tables and chairs that might obscure the camera's vision. Other than that, the room also echoes in which the mic might catch sounds of the film crew in the background.

Alternatives:

What other locations can you shoot at if there are issues here?

Music room is also suitable for interviewing, moreover it doesn’t echo. However, it is often occupied for music club activity.

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

What dangers are there?

We might trip due to the floor being smooth and slippery as well as the tables and chairs obscuring our movement.

Evaluate risks:

What bad things could happen with these ‘dangers’?

Cause injuries which are prone to a delay in shooting scenes, eventually rescheduling until we wait for the person to recover.

Control measures:

How will you prevent these from happening?

Be mindful of where we move around the room and don't move mindlessly.

Responsibility:

Who will be in charge of the control measures?

Nathaniel

Time frame:

When will you have the control measures in place?

Before the recording or during the recording we might do some changes to constantly minimise the risk.

Location 3

Location:

Where is it?

Alleyway street

Events in scene:

What will happen? (eg action, interview, B roll)

Reporters or paparazzi found Ata’s house and they conducted sudden interviews with him, asking a comment from Ata about Haresha's fast-growing popularity in the celebrity world.

Pros of location:

Why is this a good location?

It's good because the MeS props of Ata having a sportbike indicates that he is a successful rapper, and the alleyway is perfect as it is wide enough to shoot the interview scenes for Ata.

Cons of location:

What are some issues with the location?

Motorcycles tend to pass as we are recording our scenes, which makes us have to stop recording for a moment to step away. The lighting for recording is also another problem, due to we record at night, but we’ve solved that by Nathan bringing proper lighting for our recording.

Alternatives:

What other locations can you shoot at if there are issues here?

This is currently the best place we have thought of, as the space needs to be long and wide enough for Ata to ride his motorbike for a moment. We can try another alleway around other areas, but it is best when in front of my house as I am more familiar with the terrain.

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

What dangers are there?

Speeding motorcycles who don't honk and alert us, we can get hit by them anytime if we don’t pay attention to our surroundings.

Evaluate risks:

What bad things could happen with these ‘dangers’?

If we don't pay attention to the incoming motorbike, someone could get hit by the motorcycle leading to the driver of the motorbike also falling down, causing each party to get injured badly.

Control measures:

How will you prevent these from happening?

One person must remind the other that a vehicle is coming in the way, so we have enough time to evade and make way for the motorcycle to past.

Responsibility:

Who will be in charge of the control measures?

Haresha

Time frame:

When will you have the control measures in place by?

During the scenes, we will keep reminding each other that a vehicle is coming so that we should stop shooting temporarily.

Other notes:

Anything else?

The scene is quite fast, so we don't face much problem here.

Location 4

Location:

Where is it?

Emergency stairs near school canteen

Events in scene:

What will happen? (eg action, interview, B roll)

Reporter interviewing Haresha, and Haresha getting fed up with Ata after finding out that he dissed him

Pros of location:

Why is this a good location?

-

Cons of location:

What are some issues with the location?

People passing by after school dismissal, sound of cars

Alternatives:

What other locations can you shoot at if there are issues here?

The other emergency stairs.

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

What dangers are there?

Tripping hazards

Evaluate risks:

What bad things could happen with these ‘dangers’?

Haresha could fall from the stairs, he might also hit his head on sharp edges of the stairs.

Control measures:

How will you prevent these from happening?

He should be mindful when stepping on the stairs.

Responsibility:

Who will be in charge of the control measures?

Nathaniel

Time frame:

When will you have the control measures in place by?

Before the scenes.

Other notes:

Anything else?

Most of these plans were made by Haresha

Self Reflection: again, I felt like the planning didn't feel as useful to me, since I feel like I could have already known some of these before making a plan for i. However there are some elements that I missed that lead to the difficulty of a teammate to arrive at the location. During situations like this, Then the location and risk assessment is more useful, as it can warn other teammates before it's too late.
