This blogpost suows how our music video is regulated
When creating our music video for our component 3, we had to follow specific rules and guidelines from Cambridge as a form of regulation or censorship.
Some of the Cambridge rules that needed to be followed:
- The song chosen must be in english or must use english subtitles for non-english songs
-Content containing any use of drugs, harmful substances, and suicide must be avoided
-Vehicle safety concerns
For our music video’s regulation, we used the BBFCo or the British ratings system as a guide for our music video and to classify it into a specific rating. This system is broken u into 7 sections:
Since our target audience are teenagers, we aimed to make our music be lower than “15” the rating or lower since this rating is suitable for teens as its for individuals aged around 15. This should be relatively easy since our chosen song “Telephones” by Vacations doesn’t include any inappropriate topics and swear words.
A permission was sent to Human Sounds Records (Vacation’s music label) to prevent any copyright issues and avoid any problems that may arise.
Though my music video does contain scenes involving the actor operating a vehicle, I’ve discussed this in my location and risk assessment blog post.
Self Reflection:
It was difficult trying to find the music label's email since they don't explicitly say it on their contact page, instead they provide their own custom way of contacting the label which seemed more official and is more of a hassle. so I just contacted them using their custom method for contacting,
